It seems like we have been talking about the new Johnny Hates Jazz album ever since we interviewed the band back in the summer of 2011. The duo (Clark Datchler and Mike Nocito) were in the midst of recording the album back then and were looking at an early 2012 time horizon for the completion of their highly anticipated reunion album – their first in over 20 years. Lead singer Clark Datchler’s recent interview with Pat Sharp from Vintage TV (televised on New Years Day in the UK) helped shed some light on the new album. The sound of the album is very Johnny Hates Jazz in its essence but is by no means a throwback to the 80s. The song “Magnetized” (hopefully the album’s lead single) jumps out fairly quickly as the “Shattered Dreams” of 2013 and provides a sense of what Johnny Hates Jazz sounds like today. The album is in its final days of being mastered and mixed and will see the light of day (globally) in March. In an endeavor to engage directly with fans, the band is planning to sync up with “PledgeMusic“. For your convenience, we have embedded both parts of the interview with Clark Datchler below. Enjoy!
